SoftwareCentral provides a simple and flexible security model, which limits the access for each user of SoftwareCentral. See the guide Security Roles for information on how to configure a security role.

 

Security roles are based on active directory group memberships, where each role gets specified which parts of SoftwareCentral it can use.

A security role can limit users to: 

• Interfaces in SoftwareCentral, including many sub-functions in the interfaces
• SCCM sites
• Computers and users, based on their collection memberships
• Available software, based on Package Security Groups
• SCCM queries
• The amount of devices to manage in a single operation
• Operating System Task Sequences
• Computer Templates
• Available variables when importing computers, including requirements to select a computer template
• SCCM reports
• Users, AD Groups and organizational units in the Active Directory Module

The shop and the software available in it, is not limited by Security Roles. It uses an active directory based model, so that shop users does not necessary need a security role for SoftwareCentral. See the Shop Setup Guide for information on how to configure the security model for the shop.
